Wellesley Community in Mourning After A Mother Killed her Two Children and Led to Another State

The community of Wellesley is grieving following a heartbreaking incident in which a mother killed her two young children inside their home on Saturday night.

According to the Wellesley Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Edgemoor Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. after receiving a request from a Vermont police department to conduct a well-being check on family members believed to be inside.

Upon entering the home, authorities discovered a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl deceased. Their mother, Janette Reber Macausland, was identified as the suspect in the incident. She was located and arrested in Vermont for double homicide.

The case is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, alongside local police. Officials have emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

In a statement, the District Attorney’s Office confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Janette Reber Macausland has been described as a loving mother. She is also the estranged wife of Samuel Macausland. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
