The community at the University of Waterloo is mourning the tragic loss of student Memed Kemal Aksoy, who died after falling from a building near 155 King Street.
According to law enforcement, emergency crews were called to the student area following reports of an incident. Authorities say the student died at the scene, and the case is being treated as a suspected suicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
Aksoy, born in 2001, was remembered by those who knew him as a young man with a future full of promise. His sudden passing has left classmates, friends, and loved ones in deep grief as they come to terms with the loss.
In the wake of his death, a fundraiser has been organized to support his family during this difficult time and to help cover funeral and related expenses. Those close to him have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community.
